December 8 is Indigenous Peoples and Moro Human Rights Day. It marks the anniversary of the 2001 assassination of Nicanor “Ka Kano” Delos Santos, a Dumagat leader who bravely opposed the destructive Kaliwa-Kanan-Laiban dam projects in the Sierra Madre. He was murdered by military forces under the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administration.
This December 8, Moro and Indigenous Peoples, and advocates will take to the streets to condemn the continuing and intensifying human rights violations against national minorities, especially under the Marcos-Duterte administration. The ongoing corruption scandals further expose their blatant neglect, oppression, and exploitation of our communities.
We strengthen our call to remove the king and queen of corruption from power. Two fascist and corrupt leaders cannot be allowed to continue steering our communities towards erasure and destruction.
Marcos-Duterte, patalsikin!
