Warmest and most militant congratulations to our beloved national convener, Beverly Longid, on her election as Chairperson of the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact!

Her leadership within the AIPP—a regional organization committed to the cause of promoting and defending IP rights—is a powerful affirmation of the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines and throughout Asia. It brings greater visibility to the urgent struggles of Philippine Indigenous communities—against land-grabbing, militarization, and displacement—and asserts our rightful place in shaping regional and global Indigenous agendas.

As an Indigenous woman and an Igorot, her intersectional identity deepens the political significance of this moment. It brings forward perspectives long marginalized in regional leadership and further grounds our collective movement in lived experience, anti-colonial struggle, and community-rooted leadership.

This is not only a personal milestone but a collective triumph for all Indigenous Peoples fighting for self-determination, justice, and the defense of our ancestral lands. Her leadership lights the way forward for united and empowered Indigenous movements across Asia and beyond.

Katribu stands with you, Beverly, with pride and solidarity. May your new role strengthen our shared resolve, deepen international unity among Indigenous rights defenders, and bring us closer to a future where our rights are fully recognized, our lands are protected, and our peoples are truly free. We are with you all the way!
