Katribu Kalipunan ng Katutubong Mamamayan ng Pilipinas condemns the joint military strikes launched by the United States and Israeli governments against Iran. This latest act of aggression further destabilizes West Asia and drags the region deeper into a widening war driven by imperialist interests and Zionist militarism.

The coordinated bombardment of Iranian territory, reportedly targeting key installations and urban centers, places millions of civilians at grave risk. Retaliatory attacks have since followed, raising fears of a broader regional conflict. Once again, ordinary people: workers, women, children, and marginalized communities are made to suffer the devastating consequences.

We also stress that the escalation gravely endangers our Filipino compatriots working in Iran and across West Asia and North Africa (WANA). Thousands of overseas Filipino workers, including Moro and Indigenous Peoples in the region, face insecurity, displacement, and loss of livelihood as tensions rise. Their safety is at risk, and their families back home who depend on their remittances for daily sustenance, education, healthcare, and basic needs are likewise in a precarious situation. Imperialist wars not only devastate the peoples of the targeted nations; they ripple outward, disrupting the lives of migrant workers and deepening economic hardship in countries like the Philippines that are forced to export labor.

We denounce this reckless escalation as part of a long-standing pattern of intervention and militarized dominance by the United States in the Middle East. With Israel acting as its primary military outpost in the region, Donald Trump continues to bankroll and enable wars that violate international humanitarian law and trample upon the sovereignty of nations. The assault on Iran cannot be separated from the continuing genocide in Palestine and the broader architecture of US wars of aggression across the globe.

As Indigenous and Moro Peoples in the Philippines, this pattern is clear to us. The aggression against Iran is not separate from the continuing militarization of our communities. The expansion of the United States’ military presence in the Philippines, through the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) and other military agreements, places our country at greater risk of being drawn into wars that do not serve the interests of the Filipino people. As the war in the Middle East widens, so too does the danger that our territory will be used as a base for imperialist offensives.

The same war machinery that rains bombs on West Asia sustains counterinsurgency programs, red-tagging, forced displacement, and attacks on Moro and Indigenous Peoples' lands in the Philippines. From Palestine to Iran to our lands and territories, the logic is identical: secure control of land, resources, and strategic territory at the expense of peoples’ rights and self-determination.

Katribu calls on the Bongbong Marcos government to reject involvement in any military maneuver that supports US-led aggression. It must assert genuine sovereignty and dismantle unequal military arrangements. We join the global community in demanding an immediate halt to hostilities and accountability for violations of international law.

Makatarungan ang panawagan ng mamamayan para sa kapayapaan at sariling pagpapasya. Makatarungan ang paglaban sa imperyalistang digma.

From West Asia to the Philippines, resist imperialist wars and domination!
